Bryce Harper Cleats Product Illustrations
Under Armour are a sports clothing brand with an empowering message, providing performance clothing that for a range of sports. UA teamed up with professional baseball athlete, Bryce Harper, to design his signature cleat.
Bryce Harper is known for his unique and powerful baseball swing—making him a closely studied athlete by many in the industry.
UA incorporated their UA HOVR™ technology with Harper's design to build a truly unique baseball cleat that helps with foot stabilization, torque, cushioning, and power in an athlete's swing.
Our team worked with UA to accurately depict detailed breakdowns of their technology as well as show how they compliment Harper's signature swing.
Part of the process of developing these illustrations was to create interesting perspectives from a range of angles whilst keeping a sense of motion to really help drive home key messages about the shoe's features.
The illustrations we created for UA Harper needed to represent the athlete in particular reference to how he positions his feet and where pressure is applied during swings and how he digs his heels in.
These illustrations would feature on the companies website as well as on physical features within UA's flagship stores.

Step 1
Collate images references both from the client and in house generated images to get a feeling of the dynamic posed required for the swing, also the fore shorting used and extreme perspective we wanted to adopt for the close up view of the training shoes.

Step 2
The next step was to put together rough sketches from our reference images to find a pose that works best using interesting perspectives and lots of gesture.

Step 3
We selected the best images from the sketches that communicates the story most effectively and take those though to create the vectorised final line work. Thinner linework used to retain guidelines that help emphasise the technical sketch look and feel our client is aiming for.
